Blueberry Feast

In our garden there are three large tub-sized flowerpots in a line. Each one has a blueberry bush in it, bought several years ago now and never repotted, poor things. They are called Julia, Augusta and Septa. Not guilty. I do not go around liberally naming shrubs, but at the garden centre that was what they were labelled so you could buy plants that would/ should fruit successionally through the months.

Good news: Julia is full and the berries are just turning beautiful shades of ripe and nearly ripe. Look!

Oh drat this blog-fault...I can't even change the font type now. Grrr!
Update: marvellous husband fixed faulty blog-ness by doing something computery and tech. Many thanks!

Sherlock in ATCs: return to the scene of the crime

(Blog-site is playing up so if there's a break in posting...it's not me, it's the site being awkward) Meanwhile....Here are the next three Sherlock pictures...

Sherlock in ATCs

While I'm still on an ATC theme, here are some of the ones I did from the Sherlock series on the BBC.

Not perfect but very enjoyable, as was the series.

ATC Jack Sparrow

Back to Jack.

If you've seen the second film in the Pirates of the Carribean series, you'll be familiar with these images.
Jack makes his escape from a prison colony in a coffin with its skeletal occupant. A crow taps repeatedly on the coffin lid...all is quiet except for the tapping...

...and then Jack's pistol fires. Result, nothing but feathers.

These were made from water soluble blue ink pads wiped across the surface, the sky part washed over with a wet paintbrush immediately after, then detail added in black in with a dip pen. Being ATCs, they are the size of a playing card.

The trouble with ATCs is that part of the aim is trading...but I just can't!

Weird Pancakes

Saturday is always pancake day in our house. The deal is if my autistic son can manage not to wake me before 8am, I will cook pancakes for breakfast. Generally it works. I am a boring creature of habit and tradition with pancakes: lemon and sugar. HE is a creature of invention and weird combinations.

The first is always butter, jam and marmalade, so far so reasonable...

Then came the delightful Starburst (or Opal Fruits for those of advanced years like me)

And finally....Ta dah!
Dairylea cheese and cornflakes!

Rather him than me.

Stone Circles

I'm not one for laying on a beach soaking up the sun... but I am an incurable stone collector. These days there are rules about leaving stones on the beach where you find them (although I'm sure there must be exemptions for the ones with holes in...who can resist those?) so I collect, arrange and then leave them.

I can happily spend a whole day going nowhere near the sea itself, turning over stone after stone in search of...goodness knows what, but I usually find it: a dragon's egg, a scene from Dr Who, a really grumpy or evil face.
If I find any good ones this summer, I'll take a picture and post it!

Drinking Buddies

These two Woodland Socklets know how to have a good time and have spent the afternoon in a shady hollow drinking Acorn Wine. This is them looking a bit confused (but happily not that bothered) about the way home...

...and this was them earlier toasting the wonders of Rosemary Vineyard on the Isle of Wight.

We went there a few years ago and kept the box because it had the same name as our daughter!
