Last of the Summer...Frogs!

Like Last of the Summer Wine: 3 old geezers sitting on a wall talking about life and getting up to some stupid nonsense...but with frogs.

Have you ever found a fabric that jumps out at you and says "You must make a ...(whatever it is) out of this?"
Well this was a skirt in a charity shop but was fake leather, sludge green with textured brown spots on. WHY MAKE IT INTO A SKIRT??? It's obviously calling out to be frog (...or even a dragon but there wasn't that much of it).

So thank you to whoever decided it was a hideously weird thing to wear (unless you were going to Comicon dressed in the skin of something you'd slain that week) and donated it to one of my favourite fabric haunts.

Artist of the Year

Following hot on the heels of Hairdresser of the Year comes Artist of the Year. No risk of an ear being cut off with this artist as no Socklet has yet had ears...although that's a possible new area of development!

And by a bizarre twist of timey-wimey, arty-farty paradoxy stuff...here is a portrait of the artist drawn by another artist...

Drawn on an ipad.

Into the woods...

When I was a child and we went to any woods, someone in the family would always start the weird little chant:
"Into the woods
No No I'll scream
How loud can you scream?
AAAHHH!
Into the woods"
Which now I'm an adult with children of my own, in this news infested world of unpleasant doings, sounds rather horrible. As kids it was just a fun piece of nonsense with a slight frisson of make believe danger.

It's glorious out there and the springy little fronds of ferns are unravelling a go-go. So here are a couple of my woodland pictures.

Ain't nature amazing?

BTW this is blog number 100 so YAY and thanks for watching!

Trixie

This is, without a doubt, the pinkest Socklet I have ever made!
She looks like a bit of a madam to me and I expect she uses tears and tantrums to get her way when the cute smile fails.

But how could anyone resist those big eyes and not give her everything she wants?

Mrs Porridge

Don't blame me! I don't choose the names, I only sew the socks!

This was adapted from a sewing kit my husband bought me. I think its meant to look threatening and alien but it looks more like a mad Iggle Piggle with a nappy on! Anyway, my son claimed it and named it Mrs Porridge (middle name Phyllis if you must know).

The patchwork elephant.

No, not Elmer...just a mad flight of fancy. I DO love elephants and was bought this ornament, but...

... I felt rather sorry for it cos it looked like its skin had been cut with knives. I know it's meant to be wrinkles but it didn't look like that to me. So I decided to collage it in colourful fashion and be totally over the top.
Here is the result...

Not sure what I think of it now but it was fun to do.

Handbags

I not a great handbag-lover: it's just a useful little container to cram with far too much 'might be useful but rarely is' kind of stuff until the strap breaks. But I know there are people out there for whom handbags and shoes are the 21st century religion. So just for them...here's a Socklet of the same mind (minus the shoes).

Looking good.
