Love Child!

This is made from an old suit I bought from a charity shop. I made it up as I went along and it turned out looking like the love child of Salvador Dali and the Go Compare man!

The suit made...the suit and the lining made the hands,soles of the feet and face. The sleeve buttons were left on the arms and looked perfect.

Cute as Apple Pie

When we got caught in a heavy downpour in London and my daughter's shoes fell apart leaving her with soggy socks and an urgent need for new footwear...we went into a department store and discovered fruit socks!! Most pairs are still being worn (pineapple, watermelon and orange) but the apple socks went to the socklet department and this was the result.

The pips made perfect soulful eyes and the face is a little reminiscent of Animaniacs.

Criminal Intent

Poor mis-guided sock creature drifted into a life of petty button-theft and was sent down in chains.

He doesn't seemed particularly perturbed by the experience and is just as happy in as out.

A Blank Canvas

These  little, white wierdos were made from a cotton bedsheet for a craft sale, like the shrunken sock heads on the page before.

Simple shapes, machine sewn, turned and stuffed and then sewn up. 

Their faces were drawn on with permanent marker and the stall had some felt pens available for children to draw their own designs on the one they had bought.

 They all sold except for the sad one...which is sad = (

They were very simple and cheap to make...which is essential when all the money is going to charity.

I may revisit this idea for  a future stall.

Sock it to 'em

These were made for a stall at a Christmas fair to raise money for Disability Challengers and the National Autistic Society.

I called them 'shrunken sock-heads' and they were made with the left over toe ends from a lot of socks where I had used the long part to make long legs for other socklets. The toe end was stuffed and then gathered with a big button inside, which had a long piece of elastic tied through it already. Then  I cut the left over sock ends into dreadlocks and added the eyes.

The resulting creatures can be used like the bat and ball game where the elastic keeps the head springing back at you. They were great fun to hit unsuspecting family members with = ) and very popular with the customers!

Urban stupidity

On the the same theme of stupid-type sock creatures, this is my Urban Socklet, innit bro. He's more street than most and proudly wears his bling medallion.

    

Is it a bird? Is it a plane...?

No it SUPER-SOCK!!!
Some socks just shout out who or what they want to be and this one said Superhero!

The overall shape and mouth in particular are inspired by the the Stupid Sock Creatures by John Murphy but I'm never good at copying other people's patterns by rote and can't help twaddling about with them.

So I added a mask and a cloak, and now no one will ever guess his real identity.
Unfortunately,as they're sewn on, he can't actually have any other identity and is forced to wait around in secluded places until disaster strikes and the call goes up...
"HELP...We need someone really stupid to sort this out!"

I hear he's done a lot of work for the government over the years = )
